Join a 35-piece choir and band as they perform along to the Nineties classic

Talking through films is generally considered a pretty bad habit (sorry), but we can make an exception for this: Leeds Town Hall is hosting a screening of the classic 1992 crime thriller Sister Act, accompanied by a live gospel choir performing along to all of the on-screen numbers.

Starring Whoopi Goldberg, Maggie Smith, and Harvey Keitel (not to mention “Bill Nunn” - which is obviously brilliant) the film became a surprise hit on its release and grossed almost a quarter of a billion dollars at the box office. It went on to become a Sunday afternoon telly staple. Whether you realise it or not, all of the songs are somewhere in your memory, ready to erupt out as soon as you hear the intro to Shout.

You won’t be the only one singing along though: the 35-piece Uplifted Voices choir - as seen on the likes of X Factor and The Voice - will be on stage throughout the screening, providing goosebump-inducing renditions of the film’s timeless gospel and Motown soundtrack including Rescue Me, I Will Follow Him, and My God.

The all-ages performance on Saturday 3 March 2018 will be kicked off by a performance from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Gospel Singers Incognito. Tickets for March’s event, taking place in Leeds Town Halls Victoria Hall, are available now priced from £18-£25.
