Mini makeovers, beauty bloggers and drag queen make up tricks
September 29th and 30th will see Leeds play host to its first ever cosmetics festival - Made Up Leeds - and it promises to be huge, with more than 110 individual offers from 90 cosmetics stores, franchises, restaurants and bars. There’ll be talks from influential industry figures across both days, as well as a range of demos, tutorials and makeovers.
Some of the biggest names in the city’s retail scene are involved, including John Lewis, Harvey Nichols, Debenhams, The Merrion Centre, St Johns Centre and The Light, supported by LeedsBID. Other Made Up Leeds highlights include a Beauty Bridge at Trinity Leeds with mini makeovers and Eyes & Lips counters at Leeds Train Station.
The festival has also lined up several high-profile names including Kaz Crossley and Alexandra Cane from Love Island and Danny Richo from E4’s Body Fixers.
19-year-old beauty vlogger Lewys Ball will host a live Q&A session, answering questions about cosmetics, life and growing up on his YouTube channel LookingForLewys, which has over 325,000 subscribers. Lewys will be at Trinity Leeds’ Beauty Room at 12pm on Saturday, September 29th, followed by a meet and greet.
Meanwhile, hairdresser to the stars Andrew Barton will join his former 10 Year Younger co-star and British makeup artist Ruby Hammer MBE to discuss how to update your look and keep it relevant at any age. They will appear at The Beauty Room at Trinity Leeds at 1pm on Sunday, September 30th.
Over at Harvey Nichols, mother and daughter make-up artists Lookamillion and Mummillion will talk about their key make-up looks and getting the most out of your makeup at any age, at The Bottle Room on Sunday, September 30th.
Leeds drag queen star Michael ‘Gisele’ Allan will host a makeup masterclass and share industry tips and tricks at The Beauty Space on Briggate at 12pm on Saturday, September 29th.
Andrew Cooper, Chief Executive at LeedsBID, said: “Made Up Leeds aims to celebrate beauty for all and we’re incredibly proud of the diverse line-up for the first ever event.
“It’s fantastic to see such big-name brands and retailers join forces to create something really special for the city, and we’re expecting thousands of people to head to Leeds for the jam-packed event.”
And the most recent addition to the Made Up Leeds line-up is Georgia “Toff” Toffolo, the former Made in Chelsea star and winner of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! In 2017. Toffolo will be talking about confidence and self-esteem in the context of her own beauty journey at The Beauty Room at Trinity Leeds at 3.30pm on Saturday, September 29th.
