London group’s northern expansion is well and truly on

Big news for Thai food lovers as Saiphin Moore’s much-loved London-based restaurant group is finally escaping the shackles of the capital and is heading to Leeds.

Its new Trinity venue will be the second Rosa’s Thai Café outside London, after they opened a venue on Liverpool’s Albert Dock earlier this year. The group now have fifteen thriving restaurants across London, so it looks like their northern expansion is well and truly on.

I’m already cooking up some ideas for Leeds specials to launch later this year

Since its original launch on Brick Lane in 2008, Rosa’s Thai café has built up a reputation for authentic Thai cuisine, inspired by Saiphin’s childhood culinary experiences on her family farm in northern Thailand. Now, Saiphin and her husband, Alex, are heading north once again with a 140-cover restaurant with in and outdoor dining areas, excellent terrace views and more Pad Thai than you can shake a chopstick at.

The menu has a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options, as well as classic curries and a few less well-known Thai surprises (the spicy aromatic north Thai sausage is a banger). Drinks will include a selection of food-friendly wine, beer, Thai whisky and a range of cocktails including Rosa’s signature boozy ice tea.

“We can’t think of a better place to open our next Rosa’s Thai Café,” said Saiphin.“The Leeds restaurant scene is thriving and it’s such an inspiring place for foodies - we look forward to joining them. We’re really looking forward to meeting all of our local customers when we open the doors next month and I’m already cooking up some ideas for Leeds specials to launch later this year - watch this space!”
