A new outdoor festival in Sefton Park this April will boast yoga, street food and baby lambs... yes there's beer too
OVER 30,000 visitors are expected to flock to Sefton Park for Liverpool Spring Festival between 29-30 April to take part in a fun packed, family friendly weekend.
Described by organisers SKEvents as ‘an arcadian utopia’, Liverpool Spring Festival is a sister event to Liverpool Food and Drink Festival, which is due to take place in September.
The outdoor event will feature a whole raft of interactive workshops themed around nature and wildlife, including seed planting and herb growing. There will be a programme of entertaining and educational sessions on topics such as gardening, meditation, up-cycling furniture, knitting and weaving.
Festival goers will have access to free yoga, relaxation and mindfulness sessions from White Wolf Yoga & Kitchen along with samples of their protein-packed power-juices and plant based foods including sumptuous salads and natural vegan cakes.
The lifestyle festival will also attempt to elevate mind, body and spirit with aromatic oils and energy-boosting crystals.
Food and drink comes in the form of a producers’ market as well as a globally inspired street food area selling BBQ meat, aromatic duck-wraps, Philly cheese-steak sandwiches, cheese-smothered burritos, burgers and loaded hot-dogs, tantalising Thai-dishes, freshly-made tandoori-naan breads and even 'chilli con Kanye'.
A craft beer tent will be serving liquid refreshment of the alcoholic kind and wines are available from vintage-converted horse box bars. Crosby Coffee’s Iron Men will be on hand with a selection of specialty coffees while Space Coffee will offer pimped up drinks such as mint mocha or ice-cream, Oreo-loaded freakshakes.

The eco-friendly Spring Festival has also launched a campaign to keep their event free from any plastics that may be harmful to the environment. All restaurants, cafes, bars and producers taking part are being encouraged to sign a pledge to serve food and drink in only biodegradable containers with no single-use plastic straws.
A multitude of pastoral and playful activities have been organised to keep children entertained such as ‘Bug Bingo’, birds of prey and mini beasts, as well as a pop-up farm where youngsters can get up close to guinea pigs, rabbits and ferrets.
There will also be an opportunity to bottle feed baby lambs and goats along with a cow milking challenge, where children and adults can try their hand at ‘milking’ Daisy, Stockley Farm’s wooden cow.
Visitors can learn about nine different breeds of sheep and the wool they produce during an entertaining sheep show and a sheep-shearing demo. There will also be arts and crafts, a vintage fairground, donkey rides and storytelling throughout the weekend.
