The new competition has been set up to honour the region’s NHS workers

Lu Ban Bar and Restaurant, located in the former Cain’s Brewery, has launched a brand new competition to celebrate its reopening and say a big thank you to NHS workers.

Every weekend for the next 12 months, Lu Ban will be reserving an exclusive table for four people to enjoy one of their famous bottomless brunches in the house. The designated table can be won each Saturday and Sunday across the year – meaning a total giveaway of 104 prizes or 416 bottomless brunches worth a staggering £12,272.

Every Saturday and Sunday from August we’ll have a table especially for a winning NHS worker and three guests

The elegant and modern restaurant, which opened in November 2019 following a £2m renovation, offers dishes, tasting menus and banquets inspired by the Tianjin region. It reopened last week after being closed as result of the Covid-19 lockdown and the team were keen to find a way to recognise the hard work and dedication of NHS workers, who have been at the forefront during the pandemic.

Within days of all restaurants and bars being forced to close back in March, Lu Ban’s executive head chef Dave Critchley launched LIDS - Liverpool Independent Delivered Services, a brand new food delivery service to help keep households supplied with fresh food and to support essential food services and local producers (read more here).

Now he’s back in the kitchen, he wants to offer something back to those in front line services. “We want to say thank you to our NHS heroes,” says Chef Critchley. “Before we opened, we sat down as a team and discussed what we could do to say thanks – and the result is this monumental competition."

“We know that the nurses, doctors, ambulance drivers, admin staff and everyone else in the NHS are incredibly dedicated to their job and rarely get a chance to spend quality time with their friends or family,” he added.

“We want to give them an amazing experience where they can do just that. Every Saturday and Sunday from August we’ll have a table especially for a winning NHS worker and three guests. They can enjoy everything on the bottomless brunch menu – which also includes a selection of drinks.

“What is an amazing coincidence is when we totalled up the value of the prize – it ended in number 72 which is perfect given the NHS is celebrating its 72nd year. We are really looking forward to welcoming our NHS heroes to the restaurant over the next year.”
