The brand new venue will open this week for takeaway

Lättsam is a brand new Scandinavian-inspired café bar from the team behind the award-winning Beatnikz Republic Brewing Co. and NQ Bar.

Lättsam (which means ‘easy-going’ in Swedish) has taken over the former Brook Street Recruitment office on the corner of Fountain Street and Spring Gardens. The newly renovated 2,000sq ft site will initially operate as a takeaway café from 3rd December offering pastries, sourdough sandwiches and artisan coffee.

Top-drawer Danish brewers Mikkeller and Warpigs will be supplying permanent and exclusive beer lines - a UK-first and quite a coup

Once the current Government restrictions are eased and Manchester goes into Tier 2, Lättsam will become an all day café bar and inclusive workspace, offering a fuller menu and a range of specialist drinks for people working in or visiting the city centre.

Lättsam means 'easy going' in Swedish and will be a cafe, bar and all day workspace once Tier 3 restrictions have been lifted

The kitchen will open for breakfast from 8am with a menu, which includes Nordic pastries, granola pots and Swedish meatball brioche buns. An all-day brunch menu features avocado toast, Lättsam eggs and a selection of sandwiches. ‘Substantial meals’ will be served after 4pm with an evening menu offering a range of handmade sourdough squares. At weekends, customers can enjoy a special brunch menu, which includes fluffy Swedish waffles. Local Manchester roastery Grindsmith are supplying the coffee which features on an extensive day time hot drinks menu.

2020 12 02 Lattsam Craft Beer Lines
There will be nine craft beer lines including Mikkeler on tap

Once the Government (or the vaccine) allows us to relax a little, craft beer will be a key draw at Lättsam, of course, with nine craft beer lines. Four house beers will include a specially brewed Lättsam Lager as well as Extra Pale, Session IPA and Pale, all brewed locally. Top-drawer Danish brewers Mikkeller and Warpigs will be supplying permanent and exclusive beer lines - a UK-first and quite a coup. There will also be a strong focus on gin, with over twenty options available from local and UK-wide producers. There will also be other small batch spirits and cocktails available along with a range of natural wines.

“This has been a project that’s been long in the making,” says General Manager, Rebecca Painter. “We had planned to be open by June 2020, but that had to be put on the backburner due to COVID-19. However, we’re confident in the strong Lättsam concept as well as the great central location. Hopefully it won’t be long before we’re back to some kind of normality.”

2020 12 02 Lattsam Tables

The interior, by Manchester based practice Up North Architects, is a relaxed contemporary space with a flash of sunny yellow tiles set against pale brickwork. Customers can choose to sit at window seats, on casual dining tables or extra-long herringbone timber high tables. Lättsam will have a relentless focus on quality, passion and offer the highest level of customer service.

Lättsam is located at 55 Spring Gardens and will open 8am – 3pm on Thursday 3rd December. Follow @lattsam_mcr on Instagram and Twitter
